What is aspect ratio? According Wikipedia, “the aspect ratio of an image describes the proportional relationship between its width and its height.” Two common aspect ratios that we often hear about are 4:3 (many of the older TVs and monitor screens) and 16:9 (majority of the HDTVs). It may sound like a dry topic, albeit an important one, but John Hess did an excellent job at making it very entertaining and informative as part of the FilmmakerIQ course: “Everything You Need To Know About Aspect Ratio“.
